The assassination of “right wing” influencer and media personality Charlie Kirk is yet another indication of the increasing political polarization in America—and of what seems to be an almost inevitable slide to a new civil war.
In the period from January to June 2025, there have been at least 150 politically motivated attacks in America, almost all committed by leftists, communists, and their allies.
Since January, at least 21 people have been killed in political violence incidents, 14 of them in an attack in New Orleans by a jihadist claiming loyalty to the Islamic State group early on New Year’s Day.
In May, a pro-Palestinian activist murdered two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, and told police after his arrest, “I did it for Gaza,” according to court documents.
In July, a group of at least 11 militants in black military-style clothing attacked an immigration detention center in Texas, the Justice Department said. The group set off fireworks, spray-painted “traitor” and “ICE Pig” on vehicles, and shot a responding police officer in the neck, wounding him, while another sprayed gunfire at detention guards, the FBI said.
The divisions have been stoked by the Democratic Party’s dramatic shift to the far left. Previously, there was little difference between Republican and Democratic parties on the main topics of the day. However, the Democratic embrace of all manner of far leftist lunacy such as the promotion of transvestism as a “normal” phenomenon, the promotion of mass Third World immigration on a scale never seen before in US history, and a host of “diversity, equity and inclusion” programs which were just anti-White racism in less-than subtle disguise, has significantly widened the gap between the two parties.
This, in turn, exacerbated by the replacement of the controlled legacy media by social media, has created what many consider to be an unbreachable gap between “left” and “right,” and the left’s increasing turn to political violence.
The situation was perhaps best illustrated by two events: what was meant to be a moment of silence in the U.S. House of Representatives for Kirk, devolved into a slanging match between Democrats and Republicans; and on the far leftist-dominated Bluesky social media platform, almost all commentators celebrated the Kirk murder, many in extremely distasteful forms.
All these factors combined make any sort of democratic “meeting of the minds” extremely unlikely, and, as the racial “Great Replacement” continues apace, seems set to steer the United States increasingly in one direction only.
